This event has been postponed, due to the current Covid-19 situation in the county.

For 20 years now, Karura Community Chapel in Partnership with other organizations, has held annual medical camps targeting the communities in our neighborhood.

As the church NGO, Karura Community Centre has been tasked with running this annual event, whose aim is to address health issues of residents from the surrounding communities which hinder them from living productive lives. Our focus is on creating awareness on mental health.

This initiative comes in the wake of so many mental health cases affecting people from all walks of life; both rich and poor! We can no longer bury our heads in the sand about this issue; it needs to be addressed. One of the ways we are doing this is through a RUN, (this being the second one) which we are hoping to have on 9th May 2020.

We are targeting at least 1,000 participants, and our hope is to reach at least 5,000 people with information on mental health, through the run as well through the engagement of the church congregation through the Community Life Groups/Home cells.

We are hoping to raise Ksh. 2M from the run, which will go towards setting up a Wellness and Counselling Outpatient Center here at KaruraCC, to provide free (or heavily subsidized) counselling services to the people from the neighbouring Huruma and Githogoro informal settlements, and the needy in Ruaka, Muchatha and Gachie. The money will also go towards supporting our two medical camps and the referral cases that will come along with them.
